New Student Registration

We welcome you and your child to the Carmel Central School District! The experience of these memorable years will be exciting and rewarding. We look forward to working with you as a team to support your child’s social, emotional intellectual, physical and aesthetic development.

As a public school system, we welcome all students who live within the boundaries of the Carmel Central School District and meet state age and health requirements. Our district has one high school, one middle school and three elementary schools. Students are assigned to our elementary schools based on the attendance zone where they reside. Please see our District-Assigned Roads guide to determine which elementary school your child will attend.

Use the button below to register a new kindergarten through Grade 12 student for the 2024-2025 school year. You will be prompted to create a PowerSchool account or log into an existing one. Once you begin registration, you can save your progress and come back to your registration form at a later time.

Proof of Residency

Parents/guardians wishing to enroll their child(ren) in Carmel Central School District must provide two (2) valid documents that establish residency in the district. Post Office boxes do not provide a physical address within the district and cannot be accepted. Overdue bills will not be accepted. All documents accepted must include the student's physical address.

Two forms of proof of residence in the Carmel Central School District, such as the following, are required (paid within the last 60 days):

Two additional residency proofs must be submitted in addition to a Third Party Statement.

Additional Requirements

Proof of Age

New York State law states that a child must turn five (5) years old on or before December 1 to enroll in kindergarten. The following documents may be used to prove age:

Birth certificate
Valid passport
Baptismal Certificate
State or other government-issued ID

Proof of Immunizations

Must be received within 14 days of the first day of enrollment. See a list of New York State required immunizations for a complete list of immunizations needed.

School Records

Please provide the most current report card and/or an IEP or 504 plan, if applicable.

Special Circumstances

If there are any other special circumstances, such as a custody agreement, name change, order or protection, etc., please provide that documentation by contacting the building registrar.

Guardianship

Students who are not residing with their natural parents are required to provide proof of guardianship. Please use the Parent/Custodial affidavit form.

Athletics

Student-athletes attending Carmel High School must complete the New Student/Transfer forms in the registration packet to be eligible to participate in athletics. Questions can be directed to the Director of Athletics, Christopher Salumn, by calling (845) 225-8441 x462.
